The suspect entered The Jig Shop at 34186 Pacific Coast Highway and bought four rods and four reels on Sunday, March 11. He used fake identification and showed the clerk a star-shaped badge, saying he was a deputy sheriff from Mission Viejo.
The bank later contacted the victim and advised him of the fraudulent activity.
The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s, 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 210 pounds. Anyone with information is urged to call police.
