The three winners are choosing to remain anonymous, only going by the name, "The Three Amigos." State lottery officials did say the winners are a woman in her 20s, a man in his 40s and a woman in her 50s. One is an elementary school teacher, another is a special education teacher and another works in an administrative role at a school. They all work second jobs.
"They were modest, they were, I think, humbled by this stroke of luck that they have received, I think at times they were a bit overwhelmed," said Maryland lottery director Stephen Martino. "These are precisely the people that you would want to see win the lottery, and it happened."
Each winner will receive about $35 million. They all say they'll keep working in the school, but all say they plan to buy new homes.
One hopes to take a backpacking trip through Europe, another says the money will go toward his daughter's education and another wants to take a tour of Italy's wine country.
