Fish and Game Commission president warned over mountain lion hunting trip to Idaho

SACRAMENTO

/*California Fish and Game Commission*/ President Daniel Richards angered animal-rights activists when a picture surfaced showing him holding a mountain lion he shot and killed in Idaho. The practice is illegal in California.

California's ethics agency, the /*Fair Political Practices Commission*/, sent Richards a warning letter, but not for shooting the lion. The commission said he broke the law by accepting the hunting trip as a gift.

Richards has since repaid the amount and the case is now considered closed.
