Ventura man stabbed, beaten during robbery

VENTURA, Calif.

Ventura police say the victim, Michael Moore, was walking along the 300 block of West Front Street at around 6 p.m. Thursday when he was confronted by a group of three people, who brandished knives and demanded his property.

Police identified the three suspects as Van Null, 24, of Ventura, Nicky Ingram, 29, of Ventura and Brent Reinhart, 24, of Camarillo.

Moore tried to defend himself by striking one of the suspects, Null, with a wooden club. While Null was knocked to the ground, Ingram and Reinhart pounced on Moore, stabbing him several times and beating him with a rock.

The three suspects fled on foot, but responding officers tracked them down.

Moore and Null were transported to area hospitals for treatment, and both were listed in serious condition.

Ingram and Reinhart were arrested and booked for attempted robbery and attempted homicide.

Investigators recovered the suspects' weapons at the crime scene. Witnesses told police they did not see anyone else involved in the attack.
