Altadena burned body not yet identified

ALTADENA, Calif.

The victim's charred body was found by a passerby in the 2600 block of North Windsor Avenue at about 6 a.m. Sunday. Residents in the quiet neighborhood are stunned by the disturbing death.

"To think about my kids and the kids in the neighborhood, and I don't know, that might have been somebody's kid," said neighbor Jermani Martin.

Martin said she feels traumatized by the image of the burning body. The man was so badly burned that authorities have to use DNA or dental records to make a positive identification.

Detectives believe the man may have been killed at another location, and then brought to North Windsor Avenue and set on fire.

Investigators are looking into a red vehicle that was found near the burning body. Anyone with information is urged to call the L.A. County Sheriff's Department at (323) 890-5500.
