Thousands of Los Angeles Unified School District teachers who have been notified that they could lose their jobs will be able to plead their case starting Monday.

More than 9,500 LAUSD employees have received layoff notices for next year as the district tries to make up for state budget cuts.

The hearings allow the employees to make a case as to why they shouldn't be laid off. The hearings will continue over the next two months.
