Construction is under way in the Vannord Center on Nordhoff Street and Van Nuys Boulevard.
The Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market is using space made vacant five years ago when the Valley Foods Warehouse left.
The new store will sell produce and groceries. It will have a bakery, deli, pharmacy and one-hour photo department. It is set to open by the end of the year.
