Employee and pet Rottweiler foil armed robbery

MORENO VALLEY, Calif.

Officers from the Moreno Valley Police Dept. received a report of an armed robbery suspect in progress at a business on the 22500 block of Alessandro Blvd. at about 9:46 a.m.

Responding officers surrounded the business. An employee of the business and his pet Rottweiler ran to the safety of the officers, according to the department.

Officers talked the suspect, 34-year-old Hakim Salone, into surrendering.

The subsequent investigation revealed the employee and his dog managed to wrestle the gun away from the suspect, allowing the employee to escape.

Salone was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for armed robbery, kidnapping, illegal-firearm weapon possession, with a gang member enhancement.
