The law makes it a federal crime to intentionally point a laser at an aircraft.
Investigators said 18-year-old Adam Gardenhire pointed a commercial-grade laser at several aircraft last month. One was a police helicopter responding to the report of the laser pointed at a private plane.
If he's convicted, Gardenhire could face 10 years in prison, plus civil penalties from the Federal Aviation Administration.
