Armenian Genocide protest draws thousands

LOS ANGELES

Every year, thousands of Armenian Americans protest on the anniversary to demand that the Turkish government recognize the genocide. One and a half million Armenians were massacred by Ottoman Turks in 1915.

Turkey has repeatedly refused to recognize it as genocide.

The Armenian Youth Foundation staged its first event in Los Angeles' Little Armenia in the area of Hollywood and North Hobart boulevards at 10 a.m. The annual protest in front of the Turkish Consulate began at 4 p.m.
