'Avengers' lives up to expectations, say fans

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES

Excited fans waited to catch the midnight show at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, and the line wrapped around the block. Some fans even stayed up all night to see the movie.

Fans pouring out of the theater after the show said the wait was all worth it.

"It's an amazing movie. I recommend you watch it, one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's really going to blow your mind," said fan Victor Valenzuela.

The man who first wrote the iconic characters on paper had nothing but praise for the movie.

"The movie was wonderful. My god, it was one of the best movies I've ever seen," said Stan Lee, the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics. He even joked about his cameo in the film.

"I wouldn't say it was a starring role, but you see, they don't want me to overshadow the main characters," Lee said.

The movie has made at least $185 million overseas and it's expected to break box office records over the weekend. The superhero cast includes Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton and Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow.
