The man suspected of killing Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway could soon face extortion charges in the United States.

An extradition hearing was scheduled Tuesday in Peru for Joran Van der Sloot. U.S. prosecutors say Van der Sloot extorted $25,000 from Holloway's family after promising to lead them to her body. She still hasn't been found.

Van der Sloot is currently behind bars in Peru, convicted of killing a business student there.
