Wednesday, former Edwards campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri testified about a 2007 argument when Edwards's wife Elizabeth angrily confronted a key donor about support for her husband's pregnant mistress.
According to Palmieri, Edwards' finance chairman tried to calm Elizabeth down, saying Hunter had to be kept happy or she would go to the press.
Palmieri's testimony also indicated that John Edwards knew that Hunter was being compensated.
He has pleaded not guilty to six criminal counts related to campaign finance violations.
