Earth seen in new colors via Russian satellite

A photo taken from a Russian satellite shows Earth with a new blue and rusty brown instead of green in this file photo from May 14, 2012.

Earth is now being observed in a new light thanks to the largest single photos ever taken.

The time-lapsed shots come from a Russian satellite more than 22,000 miles away.

The colors are much different than the blue earth we're used to seeing. The satellite combined visible and infrared wavelengths of light. The infrared also made plants appear rusty brown instead of green.

Hundreds of thousands of people have already viewed the video on YouTube.
