Man shot multiple times, baby injured in San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.

An African-American man was shot multiple times at the Newport Village Apartments at 1455 East Date Street, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. The man sustained serious gunshot wounds to his back.

He was taken to a local hospital. Shortly after officers arrived at the hospital, a teenager arrived with an injured infant.

The infant reportedly sustained a graze wound and was listed in stable condition.

Police were at the scene on East Date Street investigating the incident. Evidence markers on the lawn, driveway and street indicated multiple rounds fired.

The shootings were reportedly separate, but were within the same area.

Kids were reportedly playing outside in the area.

There was no immediate information about suspects or a motive.

San Bernardino has seen a spike in violent crime over the previous month.
