Sierra LaMar case: Suspect makes 2nd court appearance

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Antolin Garcia-Torres did not enter a plea to charges of murder and kidnapping in the case of the missing 15 year old. He appeared briefly with an attorney in Santa Clara County Superior Court and was ordered back to court July 10.

Garcia-Torres, 21, was arrested May 21 after authorities found LaMar's DNA in his car. Garcia-Torres' DNA was also found inside the teen's handbag.

Prosecutors say Garcia-Torres could be eligible for the death penalty if convicted.

LaMar was last seen by her family as she left her Morgan Hill home to go to school March 16. Her family is holding out hope that she is alive, but authorities believe she was kidnapped and murdered.
