Boat fire in Wilmington may have been arson

A boat anchored in the Leeward Bay Marina caught fire on Friday, June 1, 2012.

Arson may be to blame for a boat fire in Wilmington Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to a power boat engulfed in flames on North Henry Ford Avenue just after 1:30 a.m. The boat was anchored in the Leeward Bay Marina.

Crews knocked down the fire in about 20 minutes. No one was hurt. Witnesses said they saw a man get on the boat and then run off just before it went up in flames.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
