Tree-trimmer dies on the job in Glendora

A man died while trimming a palm tree Saturday afternoon on West Bennett Avenue in Glendora.

Someone in the area heard the man calling for help around 5 p.m. He was stuck 40 to 50 feet up in the tree, surrounded by dense leaves and branches.

When firefighters reached the man, he was dead from apparent suffocation after being pinned against the tree.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office identified the man as 35-year-old Roberto Garcia of Glendora.
