A pair of lungs found on a South Los Angeles sidewalk Sunday night were determined not to be human, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said Tuesday.

A woman walking on the 13100 block of Avalon Boulevard in an unincorporated area of South L.A. about 8:30 p.m. Sunday found the organs.

The woman took a picture of the object and contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Deputies then turned it over to the coroner's office.

The coroner's office examined the organs and determined they are not from a human. It was not immediately known what type of animal the lungs were from.
