LAUSD teachers approve 10 furlough days plan

LOS ANGELES

Superintendent John Deasy said the deal will prevent the layoffs of some 4,500 teachers and thousands more district workers. Class sizes will also stay the same.

For the adult school division at the University of California, Los Angeles, the deal means adult classes are no longer on the chopping block.

"This is very important to me and I know it's important for a lot of people in my age bracket," said adult educations tudent Rose Hawthorne. "Where else would we go?"
