Police arrested a woman for filing a false police report about a robbery that never happened. Ventura Police determined this crime never occurred, the department announced Thursday.

A woman told police she was walking on the 900 block of North Ventura Avenue Monday night when two suspects approached her.

She said one of the men assaulted her and threatened her with a knife while the other one rummaged through her purse, then fled the scene with some of her property.

She described both suspects as bald men between 20 to 30 years old, standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall.

The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police released a statement Thursday: "The woman who initially claimed to be the victim admitted that she fabricated the entire incident. Her motivation for doing so is not clear and she was subsequently arrested for filing a false police report."
