The man slammed his Pontiac into a pole at Tucker Street and Santa Fe Avenue around midnight.
Rescue crews had to wait until power was turned off before they could pull him from the car. He was awake through the entire process and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Deputies are investigating whether the crash was the result of street racing.
