Coach accused of smoking pot with students on Dodger trip

LOS ANGELES

Pedro Cruz Trujillo, an assistant baseball coach at Kennedy High School in Granada Hills, is accused of child endangerment.

Authorities say the 24-year-old took a group of six students on an outing to a Dodgers game at Dodgers Stadium on May 18. Trujillo and some of the students, ranging in age from 14 to 16, allegedly smoked marijuana to and from the stadium.

A school staff member overheard students talking about the incident and reported it to police. Trujillo was arrested on Monday at about 11:20 a.m.

Police say they are working with the school to determine if there have been other similar incidents.

Trujillo was booked on six counts of child endangering and is being held on $600,000 bail.

Anyone with information was urged to call LAPD at (877) LAPD-24-7.
