California state parks: new funds save many from closure

LOS ANGELES

Only one of the 70 California parks on the state's closure list is expected to be shuttered or see reduced services July 1. Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill allocating new funds to the parks system.

Providence Mountains State Recreation Area, in remote San Bernardino County, remains doomed.

The new funding will keep many parks operating at least through the next year. Twenty-five other parks are close to signing similar operating agreements and will stay open past the deadline.
