Aimee Copeland, 24, left a hospital in Augusta on Monday and is headed to an inpatient rehabilitation clinic. The infection forced doctors to amputate Copeland's left leg, right foot and both hands.
At the clinic, Copeland will first learn to move around in wheelchair and later will be taught how to use prosthetic limbs. Her father said Aimee Copeland is looking forward to a time when she will be able to return to the hospital, using her prosthetic limbs.
"She's a very determined young lady," her father said. "When she sets her mind to something, she achieves it."
The University of West Georgia graduate student cut her leg in May after falling from a homemade zip-line along the Tallapoosa River. The bacteria entered her bloodstream through that cut.
