"It's not going to be this big huge crush like we've seen for a usual three-day weekend," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
The Automobile Club of Southern California says because the holiday lands in the middle of the week, many people have already left on vacation.
"People that are leaving are leaving at various points in the week," Spring said.
According to a AAA survey, more than 50 percent of travelers said they would be on the road the weekend prior to July 4.
Even though traffic on the roads is not likely to be bad, the beaches are a different story. Wednesday expected to be a nice, sunny day after the marine layer burns off.
