The 12-year-old, only identified as Tanya, had been left briefly home alone Monday when someone pounded on the door and rang the bell.
The girl said moments later, she heard whispering inside the house and that's when she acted.
"The phone was fortunately on the desk, so I quickly grabbed it and rushed to the closet and I called my mom asking her what to do and she said call 911 as fast as possible," said Tanya.
Officers arrived minutes after her call, but the burglars were gone. They made off with multiple computers and a blackberry.
The girl's family says she is doing OK.
