California adds 38K jobs, unemployment rate falls to 10.7 percent

SACRAMENTO

California's unemployment rate in May was at 10.8 percent. Transportation and utilities industries saw the largest employment growth in the state.

The unemployment rate in the U.S. remained at 8.2 percent in June, unchanged from the month before.

California's unemployment rate in June 2011 was 11.9 percent. The EDD said nearly 1.8 million Californians were unemployed.

Unemployment rates fell in 11 states, according to the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Unemployment rates stayed the same in 12 other states. Twenty-nine states added jobs in June.
