School officials said officers found the man alone on a remote location on campus around 10 p.m. He was threatening to harm himself with a firearm, according to Stephanie Reitz, the university's spokesperson.
A local TV station reported that police negotiators talked with the man, and the standoff ended. There's no word on the man's condition.
The incident prompted an emergency alert on the school's website that ordered an evacuation.
