911 call for foiled Garden Grove robbery released

GARDEN GROVE, Calif.

On Sunday, five masked and armed suspects stormed a jewelry store and demanded the clerk to hand over cash. The store's owner, armed with a handgun, ran in from the back. She fired two rounds toward the suspects, chasing them out of the store. A witness called 911.

"Three armed assailants, black, came out, armed uh, armed uh, with uh, with uh 9 mm. They came out running heavy and they've got another car helping them," the witness told police.

The witness followed the getaway SUV for a short time, but the would-be robbers got away.
