Masked men open fire in IE tire store; 2 dead

August 23, 2012 12:00:00 AM PDT
A customer and a worker were killed when two masked men opened fire at a tire shop in San Bernardino on Thursday.

All day, people arrived at the crime scene, not knowing if one of their family members was killed.

San Bernardino police say the shooting happened at JMC Tires at Baseline Street and Sepulveda Avenue at 10:13 a.m. One man died at the scene, and the other was rushed to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.

At this point, they say they have no idea on motive, although it doesn't appear to be robbery.

"They did not take anything. They entered, approached the victims, fired their weapons and fled," said San Bernardino Police Lt. Paul Williams.

A witness followed the suspects in the getaway vehicle and contacted police. A short time later, officers arrested three men - both alleged shooters and the presumed getaway driver.

The victims have not yet been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
