According to sources in the sheriff's department, a man entered a business on the 9400 block of Alondra Boulevard in Bellflower around 2 p.m.
Preliminary information indicates the man brandished a weapon and robbed or attempted to rob the store. Someone called 911.
A sheriff's deputy on patrol nearby spotted the suspect fleeing and gave pursuit. The deputy chased the suspect into an alley, where the deputy shot the suspect. It was unclear if the suspect fired at the deputy.
No one else was injured. There were no other suspects believed to be involved.
