NASA jets fly low over LA Saturday afternoon

LOS ANGELES

The jets, a T-38 and an F-18, flew about 1,500 feet above the area around 12:30 p.m. to conduct training and photographic flights, the agency said. They were originally scheduled to do their flyby around 8:30 a.m. but it was delayed by weather.

"This is a planned event. Do not worry or call 911," LAPD Lt. Andy Nieman cautioned residents.

Endeavour is scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport on the back of a special Boeing 747 on Sept. 20. Its final resting place will be the California Science Center.
