Two NASA jets flew low over the Los Angeles area Saturday morning as a possible flyover for the space shuttle Endeavour when it comes to the city in September. Officials asked the public to keep calm during the event, which may have caused roaring and rumbling.

The jets, a T-38 and an F-18, flew about 1,500 feet above the area around 12:30 p.m. to conduct training and photographic flights, the agency said. They were originally scheduled to do their flyby around 8:30 a.m. but it was delayed by weather.

"This is a planned event. Do not worry or call 911," LAPD Lt. Andy Nieman cautioned residents.

Endeavour is scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport on the back of a special Boeing 747 on Sept. 20. Its final resting place will be the California Science Center.
