Laser pointing suspect nabbed in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.

Police say they got a call from Bob Hope Airport in Burbank at about 11 p.m. Thursday, reporting that commercial flights were being hit by a laser in the Cahuenga Pass possibly near the Universal CityWalk area.

When the sheriff's helicopter arrived overhead, the suspect flashed the laser at the air unit. Sheriff's officials were able to pinpoint the man's location and arrest him in the 3400 block of Bonnie Hill Drive.

The suspect's name hasn't been released, but officers say he is not a California resident. He is charged with interfering with federal air travel.
