Kate Middleton topless photos scandal: French court orders magazine to hand over images

September 18, 2012 12:00:00 AM PDT
A French court on Tuesday ordered the publisher of a gossip magazine to hand over topless photos of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The court also blocked the magazine Closer from publishing any more pictures, which were taken of Prince William's wife while she was sunbathing during a getaway at a relative's chateau.

The magazine published 14 photos of a partially clad Kate last Friday. The pictures were all taken with a long lens from hundreds of yards away.

The ruling only affects the French magazine. Other publications in Ireland and Italy already went ahead with them.

The storm over the photos erupted as William and Kate made an official tour of Singapore, Malaysia and the South Pacific. Their trip ends on Tuesday.
