The pursuit started around 4 a.m. in the San Fernando Valley. The suspect led officers on surface streets as well as several freeways, including the 405 Freeway, which had just reopened after Carmageddon 2.
The driver hit speeds of over 100 mph on the 405 Freeway as he drove into West Los Angeles. He then turned around and headed back towards the valley.
After about an hour, he pulled over in Van Nuys, jumped out of the car and ran into a commercial building. He then ran out the front and hid in a storm drain near Roscoe Boulevard and Haskell Avenue.
Because of the darkness, it was hard for officers to locate him. They set up a perimeter and sent a K9 unit to the scene. He finally surrendered around 6 a.m.
Correction: It was earlier reported that there were two suspects. Police now say there was only one.
