Thieves steal 900 gallons of gas in Roseville

ROSEVILLE, Calif.

The station's manager, Tony Sandhu, said Saturday that thieves in a pickup truck somehow bypassed the pay-at-the-pump meter, allowing them to take 300 gallons without being charged on Sept. 27.

Sandhu said security cameras caught the thieves returning the following night and siphoning another 300 gallons of gas. He said they came back yet again during store hours and took 300 more gallons, but a cashier recognized the pickup truck and took down its license plate.

In all, Sandhu said the stolen gas was worth about $4,500. Police have launched an investigation.

The price of gasoline on Saturday hit an all-time average high in California of $4.61 a gallon of regular.
