Toyota recalls 7.43M vehicles globally due to faulty power-window switch

LOS ANGELES

The recall affects more than a dozen models produced from 2005 through 2010. During production, there wasn't enough grease applied on the driver's side power-window switch. That can cause friction in the switch and sometimes smoke.

Toyota said owners of affected vehicles will get a notification letter in the mail this month. Toyota dealers will fix the problem for free.

In North America, 2.47 million vehicles are affected:

  • 2007 to 2008 Yaris (approx. 110,300)
