Monday and Wednesday night hours, as well as Friday morning hours, will be restored at all 73 libraries citywide starting on Monday, Oct. 15.
The hours were slashed in 2010 following cuts to the city's budget. Measure L, a ballot initiative passed by voters last March, is providing the funds to help restore the hours.
"Libraries are vital neighborhood resources," Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said in a statement. "It pained me greatly to make the decision to reduce library hours in 2010. Restoration gets the city back on track and one step closer to fully restoring our city's library hours."
The following are the new library hours:
Central Library
Monday - Thursday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.Friday & Saturday: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Sunday & holidays: closed
Branch Libraries*
Monday & Wednesday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.Tuesday & Thursday: 12:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Friday & Saturday: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Sunday & holidays: closed
*Note: Robertson Branch is closed Saturdays and holidays and open Sundays 1 - 5 p.m.
