Man shot in Ralphs parking lot near Taft High

WOODLAND HILLS, LOS ANGELES

A man in his mid-20s was shot in the abdomen at about 3:20 p.m. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

A suspect vehicle, an Infiniti G35 sedan, was seen fleeing southbound on Quakertown. It was described as either silver or dark green.

Police were seeking two suspects. The first was described as an African-American man with black hair, about 23 years old, standing about 5 feet 5 inches tall. The second suspect was described as an African-American man with black hair, about 20 years old, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

The parking lot is near the intersection of Winnetka Avenue and Ventura Boulevard.

Taft High was being dismissed for the day. The school was not locked down.

Due to the proximity to Taft High School, Los Angeles Unified School District police officers were on scene immediately.

"In this case there was absolutely no nexus to the school. Looks like both the suspect and the victim are about 25 years old and have absolutely nothing to do with Taft High School," said LAPD Commander Andrew Smith.
