Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the back of the complex. There are 55 units in the complex. Firefighters were quickly able to get the fire under control.
Four children were trapped inside of one apartment, but everyone escaped safely.
"Somebody yelled 'fire,'" said Mike Rist, a resident of the complex. "I ran outside, grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to do what I could, make sure the family was out."
Everyone escaped safely. No injuries were reported.
Two apartments were destroyed. The Red Cross is helping affected families.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
