Motorcyclist deaths are on the rise in California - an increase that reverses a 4-year trend of significant decline in motorcycle related collisions.

California Highway Patrol data shows that 20 percent more motorcyclists were killed in 2011 than in 2010. A high percentage of those collisions happened in intersections.

The CHP is asking all motorists to be vigilant in looking for bikers. Officials also warn motorcyclists to wear the proper gear because it could save lives or reduce injuries.
