NACA's American Dream mortgage event draws crowds to Ontario

ONTARIO, Calif.

In what is the last day of the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America's American Dream Event, homeowners can get assistance with home loans and receive free loan modifications. Hundreds of counselors and bank representatives from all of the major lenders are in attendance.

"We've had incredible success for the past four days," said Ricardo Herrera with NACA. "We're helping 55 percent of the folks who are walking in are walking out with a same-day solution, that means a new affordable mortgage payment, 80 percent within 30 to 45 days."

Hererra is urging homeowners to come prepared by visiting NACA's website. According to Herrera, the event expected to assist 5,000 people by the end of the day.

"This is ground zero for foreclosure, so people in this area are still hurting. We see this all the time. People just need help."

The American Dream event will also try to assist those who lost their home to foreclosure. Monday's event in Ontario runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
