Men with flowers, balloons rob jewelry store at gunpoint

RIVERSIDE, Calif.

Two men walked into a jewelry store at 570 E. La Cadena Street in Riverside about 4 p.m. Saturday. They were carrying balloons and flowers, according to police, and were wearing masks and gloves. At least one handgun was carried.

The suspects tied up the owner and took an undisclosed amount of jewelry and currency from displays and the safe, according to police. The two suspects drove away in the store owner's vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered in Colton.

An acquaintance came looking for the store owner, found him and freed him. Riverside Police were summoned at about 6:06 p.m. Police were reviewing video surveillance tape from the robbery.
