Teen arrested for fatally burning family's basset hound

CAMARILLO HEIGHTS, Calif.

Ventura County Sheriff's deputies arrested Camarillo Heights resident Anthony Delgado after an arson investigation and witness interviews. He was arrested for arson and animal cruelty at his home.

A 3-year-old basset hound was doused with lighter fluid and set on fire in a ravine in Camarillo Heights on Saturday, October 27. The dog was found alive but later died from his injuries. The dog was the Delgado family's pet.

Delgado admitted to investigators that he was responsible for the crime, according to the department. Delgado said he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.

Delgado was held on $35,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.
