Lance Armstrong cuts formal ties with Livestrong

LOS ANGELES

The move comes in an attempt to avoid more damage following the cyclist's doping charges and removal of his seven Tour de France titles.

Armstrong had resigned from the organization's board of directors Nov. 4 after resigning as chairman Oct. 17.

A Livestrong spokeswoman said Armstrong "remains the inspiration" of the charity and that he is still the largest donor at over $7 million total.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
