ABC announced Tuesday that it has picked up a full season of television newcomer "Nashville."

The show features Connie Britton as veteran singer Rayna Jaymes who struggles to maintain her place in the spotlight while dealing with the ambitious rise of pop-country vixen Juliette Barnes, played by Hayden Panettiere, who wants to knock her off the throne.

"Nashville," which airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m., is No. 1 in its time period among Adults 18-49. The show beats out CBS' veteran "C.S.I." and NBC's freshman "Chicago Fire." Overall for the season, "Nashville" ranks among the top 3 new TV series for adults 18-49.

"Nashville" joins previously announced full-season orders for the new comedy "The Neighbors" and returning drama series "Scandal."

Dee Johnson, R.J. Cutler, Callie Khouri and Steve Buchanan are executive producers of "Nashville."
