South LA apartment fire displaces 15 residents

LOS ANGELES

The fire broke out around 9:58 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Avalon Boulevard.

It took 39 firefighters 15 minutes to knock down the flames that heavily damaged at least two units.

The fire spread from a second floor unit where six adults and two children lived to a first-floor unit where four adults and three children lived.

One person was examined for injuries but was reported in stable condition.

The Red Cross is helping those who were displaced.

Two dogs died in the blaze. A cat was also reported missing.

The origin of the blaze was under investigation.
