Thieves ransack High Desert pet food bank

APPLE VALLEY, Calif.

Mojave Desert Animal Rescue is a charitable organization that provides pet food, supplies, emergency veterinary care and other needed items to pets of homeless guardians in the High Desert.

A storage area for the organization was broken into twice over the weekend.

The non-profit's founder, identified as Annie Lancaster, found the Apple Valley warehouse burglarized Friday as she dropped off donations. She reported the crime to the San Bernardino County sheriff's Apple Valley station. Overnight, the burglars struck again, this time vandalizing the warehouse. The thieves made off with veterinary supplies, tents, clothing, and countless canned foods.

According to Lancaster, the loss totals over $10,000.

Annie Lancaster was a recipient of ABC7's Pay It Forward challenge last year, thanks to her dedication to helping others.

She's now hoping the public will help her recover from this latest devastating loss. For more information on how you can help, visit the Mojave Desert Animal Rescue's Facebook page.
