The incident took place around 6:15 p.m. on Vermont Avenue between 132nd and 135th streets.
Investigators said the victim was a Gardena resident who was about 80 years old.
The driver, identified only as a man in his 20s, stopped and was cooperative, police said. Investigators said they did not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor.
The circumstances surrounding the deadly accident were unclear.
